Artists
Michael Harrison is an American contemporary classical music composer and pianist living in New York City. Michael often works in “just intonations,” an older tuning system perfectly suited to the Tank.
Alvin Lucier is an American composer who explores acoustic phenomena and auditory perception. A supporter of the Tank since its founding, he most recently recorded there in July, 2020.

The pioneering composer Pauline Oliveros made a life practice of Deep Listening, listening in every possible way to everything possible–the sounds of daily life, nature, and one’s own thoughts, as well as musical sounds–no matter else what you are doing. Meredith Monk is a composer, singer, director/choreographer and creator of new opera, music-theater works, films and installations.
The Colorado Children’s Chorale made a triumphant trip to Rangely to record and perform in the Tank in 2018. Kids in the Chorale are ages 78 to 14 and come from more than 170 schools in the Denver area. Two entries on this “Listen” page come from the Tank.

Roomful of Teeth is a GRAMMY-winning vocal project dedicated to reimagining the expressive potential of the human voice. In 2017 the ensemble recorded and performed at the Tank for our first Solstice Festival. Click the link to hear their latest release.

Jazz trumpeter Ron Miles has a long history with the Tank, having played in it for more that 20 years. Ron headlined our 2018 Solstice Festival. Click the link and have a look at Mimi Chakarova’s short video of Ron and several stellar musicians recording his album I am a Man.

The master of the Native American flute, R. Carlos Nakai, recorded and performed at the Tank in 2018.

Laurie Anderson is an American avant-garde artist, composer, musician and film director whose work spans performance art, pop music, and multimedia projects. Here she is in conversation with Tank Founder Bruce Odland.
A singer’s singer, Rinde Eckert is also a writer, librettist, composer, musician, performer, and director, as well as a longtime Tank alumnus.
Virtuoso early music performers Jolle Greenleaf and Hank Heijink presented “Echoes of Ages” at the Tank in 2019.

Guitarist/composer Bill Frisell and filmmaker Bill Morrison are creating a work for the Tank, to be presented in May, 2021.
Roots and blues singer, Molly O’Brien was to have performed at the Tank for the 2020 Summer Solstice, until a virus claimed the season.

Leon Littlebird performs original Native Colorado music, including acoustic guitar, native flutes, and storytelling. Leon will present a concert at the Tank in 2021.
William Winant is an American percussionist, working in contemporary classic music and jazz. Willie performed at the Tank for the 2019 Summer Solstice.

We can’t possibly link all the artists and musicians who made important contributions and great work at the Tank since its acoustic properties were discovered in 1976.
